Threshing Floors installs porcelain, ceramic, and natural stone tile across Pennsylvania and New Jersey, for floors, showers, backsplashes, and full bathroom builds. Family-operated since 2011, with free in-home estimates.
Tile brings unmatched versatility to your home, from sleek porcelain and classic ceramic to natural stone and decorative mosaics. Our craftsmanship goes well beyond the floor: we tile entire bathrooms and kitchens from floor to ceiling, including shower surrounds, tub enclosures, backsplashes, and accent walls.
Professional tile installation requires precision that only comes with experience. Proper substrate preparation, waterproofing in wet areas, and exact layout planning are what separate a tile job that lasts decades from one that cracks and loosens within years. Our installers bring that experience to every surface, whether it is a full bathroom build-out with floor-to-ceiling tile or a stunning kitchen backsplash that ties the whole room together.
We work with all tile sizes and formats, from large-format porcelain slabs to intricate penny tile patterns. Our team handles complex cuts around fixtures, ensures consistent grout lines, and applies appropriate sealers to protect your investment.
Where does tile beat everything else?
Tile is the strongest choice for bathrooms, showers, laundry rooms, mudrooms, and busy kitchens, where standing water and heavy cleaning would punish any other floor. It is a worse fit where the floor structure flexes, where you want warmth underfoot, or where the budget favors a faster, softer install, and in those rooms LVP or hardwood usually serves better.
The tile jobs that fail are almost never about the tile; they are about what is underneath it. We plan the substrate, waterproofing, and layout before anything is mixed, and the free estimate is where we tell you honestly whether your room needs porcelain, ceramic, or a different material entirely.
Why Choose Tile Flooring
Our Installation Process
Consultation & Layout
We discuss tile options, take precise measurements, and plan the layout including pattern direction, grout color, and transition details.
Surface Preparation
We prepare the substrate with cement board, waterproof membranes for wet areas, and leveling compounds to ensure a perfectly flat surface.
Tile Installation
Each tile is set with the right thinset, spacers, and technique for the material. We handle all cuts, corners, and fixture work with precision.
Grouting & Sealing
We apply grout, clean excess, and seal both grout lines and natural stone tiles. A final inspection ensures every line is straight and every surface is protected.
Tile Installation Questions
What is the difference between porcelain and ceramic tile?
Porcelain is denser, less porous, and harder wearing than standard ceramic, which makes it the default for floors, showers, and entryways, while ceramic works well on walls and lighter-traffic floors at a lower cost. We install both every week and will tell you plainly when paying for porcelain is worth it and when it is not.
Do showers need waterproofing behind the tile?
Yes, every shower needs a true waterproofing layer behind the tile, because tile and grout alone are not waterproof and a missed membrane shows up later as stained ceilings and rotted framing. Waterproofing wet areas is a standard part of our tile process, not an upgrade we charge extra to remember.
Can tile crack if the subfloor moves?
Tile can crack when the structure beneath it flexes, which is why older homes with springy floors need stiffening or an uncoupling membrane before any tile goes down. We check deflection during the estimate, and if your framing will not support tile honestly, we will steer you to a floor that will not fight the house.
Is tile or LVP better for a kitchen?
Tile wins a kitchen on durability and cleanability, while LVP wins on comfort underfoot, install speed, and cost, so the right answer depends on how the kitchen gets used and how long you plan to stay. We walk that tradeoff with homeowners at the estimate, with samples on your own floor in your own light.
